Rock & Roots

Rock & Roots Youth is a Christ-centered after-school program offering academic support and

enrichment activities to at-risk youth ages 5-17 from the Alameda neighborhood in Abilene,

Texas. Our services include the Fast ForWord program by Carnegie Learning to boost reading,

comprehension, and vocabulary skills; creative classes in music (guitar, bass, and drums—with

instruments provided), art, dance, and drama; and individualized, faith-based mentorship

designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. We also ensure practical needs are

met by providing transportation from school to our facility and back home, a healthy snack upon

arrival, and a nutritious sack dinner at the end of each day.

Our program benefits approximately 14 youth each month, with a growing waiting list reflecting

high community demand. Activities are held on weekdays after school at a donated facility in

Abilene and continue throughout the school year. There are no fees charged for participation, as

all program costs are covered by grants and contributions, ensuring that every eligible child can

access our services without financial burden.
